The Prophets Private Reply | Can't Post

Once I told a friend, who carries so much sorrow in his soul, that we are like poets speaking a dead language; trying in vain to sound coherent to people who could never understand.

Once I heard a friend speak of 5 roses; one of each of his loved ones gone from his life; and I thought I heard him call them "Prophets of the Rose" in a language that was not my own but that was in my mind; he never called them that; I heard it in my head.

Once I saw cruelty hidden in a smile; one of those lessons that echo forever in the soul; how beauty and ugliness are two faces to the same coin anyway its turned; but beauty is what I chose to see and I turned blind to ugliness.

Then one night she came to me, Justice.... The first of the Prophets to arrive at my banquet meant for the demented. It takes a bit of insanity to open up the flood-gates to our inner hell; and in another place wearing some other skin it's quite alright to let the beast run free.

I shall give ugliness a face and I shall clothe it in beauty, so that you will see what you want to see and turn blind to the ugliness I wish to show. The Prophets are coming... In my head, I can hear them whispering poetry in a language that makes no sense to the lucid mind.

XI Prophet of Justice

There is liberation in dementia, a respite from boredom that plagues the witty mind.

It is an escape from the mindless chatter of the blind and the faithless; the ignorant and the incapacitated; the hopelessly malicious and the bitterly spiteful. The cackling laughter of the hag WILL be silenced with the edge of a sword and heads WILL roll.... because in this world, I can ensure it.

In this world, I can get away with it.... And this is the slaying of cowards and hypocrites, of back-stabbers and psychic vampires. I wish to hunt the witch-hunters and strip away their facade; I wish to poison the charlatans and bleed out their lies.

Prophet of the Rose, I bid you... Arise...

0 Prophet of Fools

I cannot help but see shadows where the light falls. Within the illusion of duality, I find that beauty is incomplete without a flaw to complete its perfection. Would the same be said of our lives; that each tear is a diamond placed upon the crown; that all things that bring grief, pain and sorrow are merely etchings upon the soul on an eternal journey home.

On an endless quest to seek answers that remain forever elusive, would a fool open pandora's box if she thought it held all the answers neatly packaged in a capsule? And if they were kept locked deep in some chamber within her soul waiting to be retrieved; would the key to the soul unleash insanity that is bound by conformity?

The fool is not insane, but a genius interrupted by a tune playing in discordance with the song of the universe.

"Come, let me help you look beyond reality so that you may see all that is dead and dying around you," said the Prophet of Fools, "for though you have sight you are blinded by illusions of what your hands and mine have wrought.

Like a burgler I will come, to rid the covers from your eyes... And then we shall see who lies, your serpent tongue or mine."

Often I look upon your faces and think that Death would be a mercy. In your cow-like eyes, I swear I see stupidity stretch in infinity and verily I say to you, as much as I hate you, I feel pity for you as well.

Knowledge offered is taken for the gospel truth, when lies mixed with truth swirl together like honey in water yet I see you drink it all in, the elixir of corruption.

It is a fine thread that separates the two and in your desperate need for affirmation, you huddle together like cows in a pen, each pressing the other for warmth. In the ever growing need to escape loneliness, you would discard the truth for lies if you thought it would purchase a moment empty of silence, for you fear it more than you fear Death.

And if the herd were to take the thread and weave a rope to hang themselves with, would you do the same for the sake of belonging?

Here is the rope, here are the lies, do with it what you will for your need is both your blessing and your bane. In silence lies a truth purer than the discordant chatter of your mindless talk.

In my head, I see you hanging from the ropes made up of your own lies.

My apologies dear friend, for my earlier outburst. Sometimes, I feel like the tranquil sea and other times, I watch the storm coming in helpless dismay for I know it churns up such rage in me, I often destroy that which I love most in a fit of madness.

Would it comfort you to know that while I was spitting venomous abuse at you; I was actually speaking for the Prophet of Conformity herself?

She will be given a face; she will be given a name and she will spin such lies of grandeur that truly, we will gladly take the ropes offered and think it our salvation.

Of prophets there are many but none as beloved as the Prophet of Conformity. It is to Conformity that we bow our heads, offering obedience and servitude without question.

It is to her that we offer our coins and our faith; our children and our future; in this life and the next. It is because of her that we are in our best behavior and so, it is because of her that we live under the pretense that we are happy being who we are not.

So that we may be loved in return.

... but dead silence descended upon the hall as Conformity watched the stain of zealotry slowly eating away at the once pristine walls and the room turned cold with trepidation.

It was then that the first notes from the violin drifted across the room and all eyes turned to the next guest to arrive.

In answer to Conformity's grievance, the minstriel arrived and climbed upon her seat. Perched upon the top of the black rose, the Prophet of Art spoke through music; language of the gods.

She sang words of comfort; water to sooth the searing fires of anger and once again, all was well... for now.

Re: The Prophets [shadow] [In reply to] Private Reply | Can't Post

There is a place in cyberspace where people come in flocks.

A daily pilgrimage of sorts to seek answers; a quest to be saved from themselves for they cannot do it with their own hands thus, they would go from one charlatan to the other and ask, "Please, please, O' One-Eyed Master with the forked tongue of a serpent! Help me see for I am blind though I have eyes."

So many pompous, ignorant charlatans lying in wait for such fools; ready to fill their heads with fine words riddled with nonsense.

And the flock will grovel; they will kiss the feet of the charlatans; they sing words of praises and when they leave, they take with them words with bigotry and judgment. But it is all good, for they have received verbal vomit in exchange for coins; and everyone feels fulfilled.

The flock have been given the fish for the day by the fools who would play the hierophant. A transaction akin to gratification of the loins between the whore and the gentleman rogue in the shadows of an abandoned alley. Two needy individuals feeding of each other's flesh.

And where have all the prophets gone?

The laughter of the Beetle King echos across the halls where the prophets gather for the feast; they are no longer needed in a place where the legions rein supreme. Leave the prophets in peace; they cannot save a people who refuse to save themselves.

And the Beetle King will dance to the song of the universe. For his place in it was assured the moment the fallen rose in rebellion. Everything is as it should be.

As the melody died away; as the golden notes of melancholia faded into the night, the prophets heard footsteps coming up behind them.

In came the regal Prophet of Fidelity, smiling as she entered the hall and announced:

"I have met the whore and the gentleman rogue you speak about. I have kissed them and whispered messages meant for their ears alone but they heeded me not.

They could not hear me though I was closer to them than their own heartbeat.

Friends... a toast to the blind, the mute and the deaf.

Why we try time and again to touch their souls I do not know; they have become cold like the frigid winds of winter.", and they burst into laughter for none of them can feel the bite of the wind.

A gathering of long lost friends, time cannot touch them here and none who are present are mortal.

Thank you kindly, Ash....I thought you were an old friend, although new ones are good, too.

I have few friends, here, but no enemies, umm, that I know of. And if I do, oh well, they can be annoyed, hate me, I care not what they think.....As they'd be dung under my feet, and probably so far in my past that I wouldn't care......:)

Hope you have fun here, it can be a great place to belong. It was my home for about 6 years.

No, this isn't Shadowslayer... the photographer's been busy and doesn't have time for the moon. That and I don't think he wants to deal with drama that would probably start up again if he did show up. Probably pull in a few extra former moonies back from their lunatic asylum that he doesn't want to talk to anymore.

Shadow:
She was speaking of my significant other, he used to go simply as Shadow in casual conversation (and I still call him that around the moon too). if you'd like me to remove all the conversation posts from this thread so you're story can flow, just let me know.

No harm was done; and the Prophets were not offended by the intrusion... merely curious who the ShadowSlayer was.

If he is well acquainted with lunacy, as we all are here, he would be more than welcome to join the feast. This is after all, a celebration for those of us who crawl through dementia.

We know it for the devil that it is.... yet we can no longer remember what it was like before we learned to stare the black dog in the eye. Tranquilized delirium is to run with wolves or howl at the moon in the vast infinate space of one's imagination.

All is good... and there is no story... just reality written in cyberspace.

Pardon me if I return to the banquet, I was in a trance.. watching the Beetle King dance.

Halt! Who goes there? I see the Lady Sea has brought her friends... none who slays shadows I hope .

Come drink the Lilac Wine Blush and pray let me tell you of the Prophet Fidelity.

She came to me when I was in dire need for redemption. In another place; I have done a terrible deed at the bidding of a friend.

And when I came to realize my mistake, it was too late for the wheel has turned and with it, a pair of star-crossed lovers became bound in adultery and incest.

Judge them not nor me; for in these halls we do not condemn each other but it is essential I learn the lesson for the deed would be senseless if it happened for no reason at all.

So I wondered what she was trying to tell me.. Fidelity, I mean. For a month now I had her in my company.

It was this catalytic event that woke me from the illussion of the Lovers when the traditional meaning of Lovers was challenged by deviant behavior.

No, it is not the Devil who shows her face, I am certain of it. It is Fidelity who will teach us about love and what it means to us for a lie will wither like every rose ever cut down before its time; for every Valentine, Anniversary, I am Sorry, I Love You, Will You Marry Me and all other occassion mankind have every thought up to profess love.

If it was Conformity who created the boundaries of socially acceptable behavior, both secular and religious then it is Fidelity who will test those boundaries. Hedonistic gratification or selfless love... we are all faithful to our own cause afterall and ultimately, we make choices that reflect it.

Thus I ask this so that I may understand, what is fidelity when there is betrayal waiting in every shadow to tempt the heart?

Dear First Lady Sea and the Crimson Dragon

I was wondering if you could help me.

I started this thread titled Prophets of the Rose a few months ago but now I find that I am faced with various disagreements amongst the Prophets because the first guest from the Prophets of the Thorn has arrived.

He feels slighted that the title is centralized around his female counterparts.

Its quite an inconvenience I reckon to change the title; but would you be able to help me shorten it to "The Prophets" instead?

That way I won't have to start a new thread just to appease his bruised ego or ruffle the feathers of my female guests by having the Thorns take center stage.

I will await your reply before I continue to introduce my next guest. Appreciate your help, thank you.

Come by tonight when the moon is perched on the tip of the raven's wing; a party crasher will come entertain us with parlour tricks and silly pranks but I swear to you now, what makes him such a riot is his wicked, wicked sense of humour.

He leaves no footprints; no sign to mark his passing except a glitering trail; a billion shards of broken glass spiked with poison to cut the brain.

*************************************

The Prophet of Intentions takes a bow before the audience; he claims to have wandered in because he got lost but I know better.... beware the Magic man; he is both kind and cruel.

He is the liar who strays not from the truth; for the best amongst the liars are the ones who stay closest to the truth. He is skilled in blurring the thin line that distinguishes one from the other; like the art of blending black and white into a million different shades of gray.

Notorious party crasher; trouble maker; heart-breaker at your service.

Magic Man, Magic Man who are you?

You do remember Fidelity, don't you?

Abandoned by faithless hedonistic whores; crack-babies of the new millenium seeking hedonistic pleasures with the maniacal glee of an energizer bunny.

Fidelity listens to the whispers of Desire; Desire is the one who struggles in desperation to be freed from the shackles of honor and integrity; Desire is the one clamouring... clawing to feed the embers burning within.

Fidelity's own words are drowned by Desire's obsessive rants against unjustified deprivation.

From the shadows, comes another Prophet of the Thorn.
Infidel; Fidelity's own shadow twin emerges from inky blackness to hold her in a warm embrace as he whispers into her ear, "You cannot save them, dearest. ".

Then he walks over to Desire; he unbinds the chains around her neck to replace them with his own.

IV- The Prophet of Infidelity

Infidel steps up to the one in chains and releases her from the bondages of inhibition.

I heard him whisper to Fidelity:

You know Fi, if you had taken your medication like you were supposed to, perhaps you wouldn't take things so personally.

Loyalty is subjective and if noone follows the principles you impose, take heart that they are loyal to the ones I offer in place of yours. Loyalty to a cause you do not believe in does not mean loyalty is dead; merely a deviation from what you approve of.

There are no rules here and we are all trapped in the asylum up in somebody's head so its quite alright to let the poor girl run amok. Why keep her chained up when you fight to be heard like the rest of us?

Let her have a say for she has brought incest, adultery, betrayal, rape, famine, greed and countless other goodies to the masses. She's certainly more fun than having you or Conformity around.

IX Prophet of Inquiring Minds

See when there is a gathering of this sort, there is bound to be drama and I for one dislike drama with a passion. All the bickering and pettiness makes my head ache; I just can't stand it.

I would cut off my ears and stab out my eyes if I thought that would help.. it wouldn't. In fact, let's just dismiss that idea outright as stupid and try something else.

The Beetle King gave me a map and told me to follow it; it will take me to someone who hated all that noise as much as I. So I took the map; locked all the Prophets in that softly-padded room for the criminally insane and went looking for the elusive hermit.

In one of the rooms marked IX, I found him. A little younger than I had expected, a little unconventional to be called a recluse; "What kind of hermit are you?" I demanded.

He stuck a lamp in my face and said to come closer so I may see better and I did.

He looked like me a if I was a man; he had the Glass City in a jar and it looked like Eden was burning. The Prophet of Inquiring Minds laughed; he said it was I who wanted to burn the city to the ground. The lamp shed light into the depths of my heart and that was what I saw.

What nonsense!!! I turned around and ran for he was crazier than the rest of them... but not before I spat a mouthful of expletives at him.

But you need not worry.....yes,others will write, give opinions and such, and some may be of a personal nature, though not in this case....No need to worry...I ttink it is a friend (sort of) of mine who means no harm, but just does not know where they should post, sometimes. I will whack them the head for you.
